Drawing up an inheritance contract – what options do I have?

If you and other family members want to regulate who inherits what and how much after your death, you should draw up an inheritance contract.

The answer in detail

Options when drawing up an inheritance contract

Read on to find out more. You have two options for making inheritance arrangements:

  1. On the one hand, there is the positive inheritance contract. This contract sets out how much or what exactly the heir(s) will receive from the estate.
  2. On the other hand, there is the negative inheritance contract, also referred to as the renunciation of inheritance or inheritance renunciation with valuable consideration. In this case, the person entitled to the inheritance disclaims in full or in part the portion of the inheritance due them.

In either contract, you stipulate who will inherit what after your death.

Our templates will show you both of these options in detail and help you draft an inheritance contract.
